Butter Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs, at room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, sugar and salt. Beat until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs one at a time, continuously beating.
- Gradually add flour, beating until well incorporated
- Place dough in cookie press with desired disk. Press dough out onto an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the cookies are golden brown on the edges. Rotate baking sheet halfway through baking time.
Notes
- Yields: about 12 dozen
- Move rack to middle of oven (4.5 minutes on each side works best)
- Substitutions: (butter citrus cookies) 1 Tbsp of orange zest for the vanilla extract; or (lemon poppyseed cookies) 2 tsp lemon extract and 2 Tbsp for the vanilla extract
