Homemade Granola
Ingredients
- 6 cups rolled oats
- 3 cups chopped raw nuts or seeds
- 1 1/4 cup sweetner
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 egg whites
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup oil
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 cups dried fruit
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300°F and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a very large bowl mix together all the oats, nuts, sugar, flour, water, egg whites, vanilla, oil, and salt.
- Pour granola mixture onto the prepared baking sheets and press it together.
- Bake for 20 minutes, then flip using a spatula.
- Return to oven an bake for an additional 20-30 minutes or until dried out and lightly golden in colour.
- Once dry and golden brown remove it from the oven and allow to cool completely.
- Break into desired piece size and store in an airtight container.
Notes
- Will stay fresh for several weeks at room temperature.
- Nut/Seed options - almonds, walnuts, cashews, pecans, macadamia nuts, sunflower seeds
- Sweetner options - maple syrup, white sugar, brown sugar, honey, agave
- Oil options - vegetable oil, coconut oil, avacado oil, light olive oil
- Dried fruit options - raisins, coconut, dried blueberries, freeze-dried strawberries, chopped up apricots
